RENFE

RENFE (Madrid area) – along with the Metro train system (which mainly covers the city of Madrid), there is also a regional train line (called RENFE), which connects Madrid to outer lying suburbs. This consists of nine railway lines that all throughout the autonomous region of Madrid. These trains all leave from Atocha station (in the southern part of Madrid, not far from popular streets like Gran Via and Paseo de Castellana. In some areas, you can use the same transport tickets as you would for Metro trains & buses. These trains usually run every 10 to 30 minutes, with fares starting at €1.60 (rising according to the distance covered). See RENFE’s website for more details: www.renfe.com
