Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (Palau Nacional, Parc de Montjuic, Barcelona) – this is the national museum of Catalan visual art (a.k.a. MNAC), which was established in 1934. MNAC is known for its Renaissance and Baroque collections, including the works of great painters, such as El Greco, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Cranach, and Rubens. The MNAC art collections from the end of the nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth century are mostly made up of the work of Catalan artists, forming a discourse which explains Modernisme, Noucentisme and the Avant-garde, always taking into account all the arts.
Admission: €12 (general – valid for two days). 30% reduction for students, families (2 adults & one child), adult groups, and school groups. Free admission for the unemployed and seniors, and children under 16. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday & public holidays from 10 am to 3 pm (Oct. 1 to April 30); Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday & public holidays from 10 am to 3 pm (May 1 to Sept. 30). Closed on Mondays. Free for everyone on Saturdays after 3 pm; 1st Sunday of each month, and May 18th (International Museum Day).
