Museo Nacional del Prado (Paseo del Prado, Madrid) – opened in 1819, this is Spain’s main national arts museum, featuring some of the finest collections of European art (from the 12th to the early 19th centuries). Although much of the works housed here are paintings and sculptures, there are other types of artwork shown here as well. Among the artwork displayed here are those by Francisco de Goya, Diego Velázquez, Titian, Peter Paul Rubens, Botticelli, and Albrecht Dürer, among many others.
Admission: €14 (general), €7 (reduced). Hours: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm (Monday-Saturday), 10:00 am – 7:00 pm (Sundays and holidays). Reduced hours (10am – 2 pm) on January 6, December 24 & 31.
