Matadero Madrid

Matadero Madrid (Paseo de la Chopera 14, Madrid) — After being refurbished, the old slaughterhouse and livestock market of Madrid has been turned into a large multidisciplinary place for art experimenting and production. Matadero Madrid, Centre for Contemporary Creation, is situated in a group of industrial buildings built between 1908 and 1928, designed by Luis Bellido for Madrid’s livestock market. These buildings are one of the most interesting architectural sites in the city. This industrial heritage has been refurbished and turned into a center for cultural dissemination, research and creation, with different activities that promote citizen participation.
