Gibralfaro (Camino de Gibralfaro 11, Málaga) – this is a fortress located on a ridge that overlooks the city of Málaga. It is also the name of the ridge the castle itself was built on. It was at one time a Phoenician enclosure and lighthouse that was expanded by the Moorish Caliph of Córdoba, Abd-al-Rahman III in 929 AD, and again into its present for by the 14th century. There are ramparts that connect the Gibralfaro to the Alcazaba, another Moorish palace fortress. Admission: €2.20 (€3,55 for combined Gibralfaro-Alcazaba visit). Hours: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm (Summer), 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (Winter).
