AVE
AVE (countrywide) – this is the RENFE high-speed rail service that covers destinations throughout Spain. AVE stands for “Alta Velocidad Española” – which runs as fast as 310 km/hour. AVE is ideal, for example, for those traveling from Madrid to Málaga / Costa del Sol, as well as other regional destinations like Barcelona. Ticket control and passport checks will occur at the station before boarding the AVE train. Note that the gate closes 2 minutes prior to the trains’ departure time and the entire train is non-smoking.
